Derek Amery joined Dynamic in 2019. As Co-Head of the Core Fixed Income team, he brings over 20 years of investment industry experience with a focus on Canadian Fixed Income Portfolio Management.
Derek’s investment style focuses on a balance of interest rate and credit-driven strategies with key consideration given to risk, research and relative value. He incorporates a wide range of strategy levers including asset allocation, macro level analysis, individual credit selection, as well as duration and yield curve strategies.
Prior to joining Dynamic, Derek spent 16 years as a Portfolio Manager at HSBC Global Asset Management, with 11 of those years as the Head of Canadian Fixed Income. Prior to that, Derek worked at TAL Global Asset Management for nine years, first as an Analyst and then as Portfolio Manager.
Derek has been a CFA charterholder since 1998. Prior to this he earned an MA in Economics from Dalhousie University and a BA (Honours) in Economics from Queen’s University.
